Runaway Car Rams Other Vehicles, Parking Meters In Westchester

In you witnessed what looked like a disastrous motor vehicle accident in the Village of Mamaroneck on Friday afternoon, it looked nastier than it turned out, according to police.

The accident occurred in front of 141 Halstead Ave.

Eyewitnesses said an elderly woman lost control of her car and rammed into several parked cars and multiple parking meters before coming to a stop.

Police did not release the name of the driver.

"No injuries were reported and no summonses were issued," said Lt. Sandra DiRuzza, a spokeswoman for the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department.
